Infectious disease experts in Minnesota predicting slow move into COVID-19 Endemic

(St. Paul, MN) -- Two Minnesota infectious disease experts are predicting a slow move into a COVID-19 endemic as case numbers and hospitalizations drop.  

Dr. Peter Bornstein with St. Paul Infectious Disease Associates says there are positive signs, but warns the pandemic isn't over. An endemic would mean COVID-19 remains among the population, but the spread has lessened.

Infectious disease expert with Mayo Clinic Dr. Gregory Poland says the move to an endemic will require the absence of new "variants of concern."
