(Bismarck, ND) -- Bismarck-area District 35 Democrats are appointing Tracy Potter to a vacant state Senate seat.

Potter had announced his campaign for the seat last month, but was chosen Sunday night to fill out the remained of Senator Erin Oban's term. Oban resigned recently after being appointed state director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development agency.

Oban had already chosen not to run for re-election due to what she says is the divisive nature of politics. Potter will fill her seat until the end of November.
