(Burleigh County, ND) -- The North Dakota Game and Fish Department say the risk of wildfires are heightened at this time of year, and are asking for careful burning as a preventative measure.
ND Game and Fish say the increased risk comes from a combination of high winds and drought, with the western half of the state seeing conditions ranging from abnormally dry to extreme drought.
The agency is urging hunters and anglers to keep up with the rural fire danger index, issued daily by the National Weather Service. You can learn more by clicking here.
