Minnesota House advances bill to replenish unemployment fund

(St. Paul, MN) -- The Minnesota House is advancing a bill to replenish the state's unemployment fund and to send out checks to frontline workers.

The proposal would spend more than three-point-seven billion dollars to repay the federal government for assistance received to pay unemployment benefits during the pandemic.

The spending plan would also replenish the state's unemployment insurance fund. Minnesota employers who have paid higher taxes since the fund wasn't refilled by March 15th would receive a reimbursement credit.
