(Glen Ullin, ND) -- State environmental officials say a vehicle incident led to four-thousand pounds of fertilizer to spill into the Heart River southeast of Glen Ullin.

South Dakota-based Agtegra Cooperative reported the spill to the state. The spill happened Tuesday and officials say it doesn't appear to pose an immediate threat to drinking water or aquatic life.

Officials say recent rain and snowfall has increased the river's water level, diluting the fertilizer's effect.
