(Dickinson, ND) -- A Medora man has been re-sentenced after his original attempted murder charge was thrown out by the North Dakota Supreme Court.
Justices cited a 2018 filing error by prosecutors when reversing the charge. Lorenzo Pemberton entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors earlier this week to avoid a second trial. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Ten years of the sentence was suspended.
The charge stemmed from a domestic violence incident in February 2018 where Pemberton stabbed his girlfriend with a screwdriver.
