(Kyiv) -- A North Dakota farmer is out of jail in Ukraine.

Kurt Groszhans is charged with attempting to assassinate Ukraine's then-agriculture minister Roman Leschenko. Groszhans remains in Ukraine, and Senator John Hoeven says he is working with his family, the State Department, and Ukrainian officials to ensure he is treated fairly.

Hoeven's office says the senator has met with U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink about the situation.
