(Jamestown, ND) -- An Illinois man is dead after being struck by a truck near Jamestown Sunday afternoon.

The North Dakota State Highway Patrol says the 20-year-old man was riding his bicycle south bound on State Highway 20 near mile marker 10.5 when the truck, driven by 78-year-old James Charles Lees, failed to yield and struck the rear tire.

Both the bike and rider were pushed into a ditch near the road. Lees originally left the scene, but came back to find the person hit. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Lees was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
