(Bismarck, ND) -- Two of the biggest energy companies in the Williston Basin have officially joined forces.
Whiting Petroleum and Oasis Petroleum have merged together to become Chord Energy. Combined, they cover 972-thousand acres and make 167-thousand barrels per day.
President and C-E-O Danny Brown says Chord Energy has also committed to safety and reducing emissions.
