(Minneapolis, MN) -- Evacuation orders have been lifted at the University of Minnesota and surrounding buildings after a petroleum spill was discovered in the sewer system.

Several campus buildings and area businesses were cleared out yesterday before the order was lifted hours later. Fire officials warned people returning to homes and businesses to call 911 if they continued to smell gas.

Met Council contractors working in the area reported the initial gas fumes from the sewer tunnel. Crews are monitoring the area.
