(Fargo, ND) -- A local chapter of a nationwide organization shared what makes their services a necessary part of the recovery process following destructive events in our community.

Volunteer Team Lead for Salvation Army Emergency Services Andrew Lynch spoke about the role they play within the community. They are "second responders", according to Lynch, that are "another set of hands on scene."

"We end up being dispatched out to single household fires, multi-unit fires, hazmat, swat, "said Lynch, 'Floods we are very popular for, as they are long-term disasters."

Lynch stressed the need for additional hands and helpers. He says the Emergency Services portion of their team is entirely composed of volunteers, himself included.

"Our emergency disaster services team that's here in Fargo is 100% volunteer, "said Lynch, "A lot of our folks are retired. A lot of our folks like to spend time out on the lake, which I totally understand. We are always looking for volunteers, always looking for folks that find interest in this, find interest in the mission."
