(Fargo, ND) -- The republican candidate for state auditor in Minnesota is the former CEO of a major healthcare company who says he wants to brings a sense of "business acumen" to the position.

"I think Minnesotans want change. They know they work hard for their tax dollars and they want to make sure that money is going to things it's supposed to go. Helping people it's supposed to help and not being wasted," said Ryan Wilson.

Wilson is running for public office for the first time, challenging DFL incumbent Julie Blaha. The latest poll from KSTP shows Blaha in the lead by 1 point, 38 percent to 37 percent, with 23 percent undecided.  Wilson says during Blaha's tenure Minnesota has seen some of the largest financial scandals in state history, including fraud associated with the food program for children "Feeding our Future".

Wilson is an attorney specializing in constitutional law and the First Amendment.
