(Rapid City, SD) -- The South Dakota Board of Regents is implementing a free application period for those seeking admission to one of the state's public colleges or universities.

The policy went into effect Monday and will run through November 30th.

The move is intended to encourage South Dakota students to stay in the state for their higher education.

This as attendance at some state colleges has dropped in recent years, with many blaming the pandemic as the reason why.
