U of M graduation may not include walk across stage

(Minneapolis, MN) -- Newly released emails from various colleges within the University of Minnesota indicate that spring graduates may not be walking across the stage to receive their diplomas.

A "University-wide commencement" is planned for May at Huntington Bank Stadium. The change in venues appears to stem from renovations taking place at 3M Arena at Mariucci, where many colleges typically hold individual commencements.

A student-led online petition protesting the idea that degrees won't be individually distributed has more than two-thousand signatures.
