North Dakota ranked fourth most charitable state

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota nice is taking a whole new meaning, courtesy of WalletHub.

The Personal Finance website has come out with a list of the most charitable states for 2023, and The Peace Garden State ranks near the top.

North Dakota came in fourth best for being charitable in the country. The study was based on 19 key indicators, including volunteer rates to share of income donated to shares of sheltered homeless.

Other key areas where North Dakota ranked highly include:

  • 13th – Charities per Capita
  • 30th – % of Donated Income
  • 19th – % of Population Who Donated Time
  • 1st – % of Population Collecting/Distributing Food
  • 10th – Volunteer Rate

Minnesota came in one spot ahead at number three. Americans donated nearly $485 billion in 2021, which was up 4% from the previous year.
