(Bismarck, ND) -- North Dakota's Doug Burgum is among nearly two dozen governors calling on Congress to reject the Biden administration's mandate for COVID vaccinations for the military.

The governors sent a letter to congressional leaders this week criticizing the effort, saying the mandate is creating a risk to national security.

The letter connects the mandate to the loss of military personnel and shortfalls in recruiting.

Reports indicate eight-thousand active duty service members have been discharged since the vaccine was mandated.

The National Guard is preparing to discharge 14-thousand soldiers for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine.
