(Bismarck, ND) -- Governor Doug Burgum is waiving hours of service requirements for commercial fuel haulers.

"Waiving the hours of service requirement will help carriers, agribusinesses, farmers and ranchers, and other consumers obtain and deliver the fuels to help meet North Dakota’s needs," said the Governor's office in a statement released to WDAY Radio.

Burgum signed an executive order Monday, granting the waiver for drivers transporting propane, gas, diesel fuel, and heating oil.

Record-setting winter storms are causing a spike in demand for heating fuels. The 30-day waiver went into effect Monday.
