(Jamestown, ND) -- Authorities say more than a dozen cattle are dead following a semi overturn outside of Jamestown.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened at 2:00 p.m on Thursday. They say a semi was hauling cattle southbound on U.S highway 52 and attempted to enter the eastbound onramp when his vehicle tipped. Authorities say the driver, 25 year-old  Dannie Swartzentruber, was "traveling too fast while negotiating the turn", which caused the cattle to shift, and ultimately caused the vehicle to tip onto its passenger side.

The cattle were eventually transported to the Jamestown Livestock yard. Officials with the Southwood Veterinary Clinic say 14 cattle were pronounced dead out of 127 in transport.
