(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota House is advancing a bill that would ban drag shows in public places or where kids are present.

Supporters, including House Representative Brandon Prichard say the bill will protect children. He adds that the bill does not prevent the groups putting on the events to doing so in private settings, but doesn't believe children should be present for them.

LGBTQ advocates testified against the measure, saying the bill limits freedom of expression.

The bill is now headed to the State Senate.
