(Mandan, ND) -- One Minot Police Officer was briefly hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash in the city.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Main Street and Memorial Highway around 8:51 p.m. Authorities say Latrell Black, a 28 year-old Ft. Yates resident, was traveling westbound approaching the Memorial Highway intersection and rear ended a marked Mandan Police Department Patrol Car. The Patrol Car was being driven by Halima Kahlifa, a 26 year-old Mandan Police Officer.

Authorities say Black admitted to being on his phone, having his head down, and being distracted when he struck Kahlifa. Officials say Black was arrested for multiple charges; including Driving Under the Influence, Driving Under Suspension, and Distracted Driving. The Highway Patrol says Kahlifa was taken to St. Alexius' emergency room, and was later released.

The incident is still under investigation.
