(Shakopee, MN) -- Amazon is preparing to shut down a sorting facility in Shakopee.

The retail giant informed state officials Monday of the pending closure. The complex employs nearly 700 employees.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development says a letter from the company says it will stop all operations at the facility on March 31st.

The letter says Amazon is working with the affected employees, who have all been notified of the layoffs.
