(St. Paul, MN) -- The Minnesota Department of Health is using a new tool to track violent deaths in the state.

Officials introduced the Minnesota Violent Death Reporting System dashboard Wednesday. The comprehensive tool is aimed at observing trends in violent death by county.

The dashboard includes information about violent deaths occurring between 2015 and 2020.

Officials hope to use the tool to understand which populations are most at risk and the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
