South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem keeping pressure on legislature to repeal grocery tax

(Fargo, ND) -- South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says she won't approve a state spending plan that does not include a specific tax repeal.

"I've been advocating real hard all session to get the legislators to do what the people of South Dakota want to do and repeal the sales tax on groceries store items," said Noem.

Noem says with a significant increase in state revenues, she hopes the legislature will finally repeal the grocery tax. She is expecting lawmakers to consider the move again this week.

"We're only one of 7 states left in this country that still tax grocery store food," said Noem.

Noem made the comments while appearing on "What's on Your Mind".
