(St. Paul, MN) -- A new painting is honoring women in the Minnesota National Guard.
Women on Guard was unveiled Wednesday in honor of International Women's Day. The painting depicts five current female guard members standing in uniform.
The unveiling happened on the 50th anniversary of the first women to join the guard, about 117 years after it was founded. One in five Minnesota National Guard members are women.
The painting will be displayed at the Minnesota State Capitol from May 1st through May 15th.
