(Bismarck, ND) -- The State Senate is once again considering increasing speed limits across North Dakota.

HB 1475 would up the speed limits to 80 miles-per-hour - five miles above the current limit on most highways.

The measure has already passed the House.

Representatives from the North Dakota Safety Council testified in opposition of the bill, noting that more than a quarter of traffic fatalities in the state are speed related.
