(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic is recovering from surgery after receiving a cancer diagnosis.

The Senate DFL caucus leader says the cancer was discovered by a pap smear she had in December.

Monday, she had surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical Center to remove a cancerous tumor.
