(Bismarck, ND) -- A relatively quiet weekend in Bismarck did yield a few decisions from the 68th legislative session.
The North Dakota State Senate is advancing a bill that would dedicate five-million dollars to back the blue grants.
The grants would be allocated to local law enforcement agencies to be used for recruitment and retention. The measure passed by a 27 to 18 vote. Many who voted against the measure noted that there is a similar in the attorney general's budget.
The State Senate also decided that off-site alcohol sales won't be allowed on Thanksgiving.
Senators voted down a House bill that would have removed a restriction on the off-sale of alcoholic beverages. The only restriction on off-sale alcohol is Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The bill failed in the Senate by a vote of 14 to 31.
