(Monticello, MN) -- It looks like the recent radioactive leak at a nuclear power plant in Minnesota led to a large fish kill.
The Xcel Energy plant in Monticello shut down on Friday so crews could clean up 400-thousand gallons of contaminated water.
The Pollution Control Agency says that caused the Mississippi River to cool down, and the temperature change proved deadly for at least 230 fish.
The MPCA called it "unfortunate but not unexpected" and confirmed there's no contamination in the Mississippi River and drinking water sources.
