Officer-involved shooting in Polk County

(Polk County, Minn.) — A suspect was taken to an area hospital following an officer-involved shooting Tuesday in Polk County, Minn.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along with the East Grand Forks Police Department and the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force were executing an arrest warrant at a residence in Rhinehart Township. At one point, the suspect exited the residence and returned into the residence, followed by officers.

Shortly after the suspect returned into the residence, there was an officer-involved shooting. The suspect was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, and their condition is unknown at this time. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will investigate the officer-involved shooting, in addition to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities say the incident is isolated, and there is no threat to the public.
