(Bismarck, ND) — In sync with most of the rest of the nation, state health officials are tracking an outbreak of whooping cough in North Dakota.
According to state officials, cases of the respiratory disease have more than quadrupled in 2024. In 2023, North Dakota reported only 17 cases of whooping cough, with 16 traced to Cass County and a single case reported in Stark County. As of last week, state health officials had confirmed 102 cases in 16 North Dakota counties. Cass County reportedly is home to more than half of the state’s whooping-cough cases so far this year.
