March 2025 – Sergeant Steve Hirchert (Cass County Sheriffs Dept.)
Our March Luther Family Ford Salute to Law Enforcement honoree is Sergeant Steve Hirchert of the Cass County Sheriffs Dept.
Sergeant Steve Hirchert was born and raised in North Fargo. Steve attended the University of Jamestown majoring in Criminal Justice. In 2009 Steve joined the James River Correctional Center in Jamestown, starting his career as a correctional officer.
In 2011 Steve joined the Cass County Sheriff's Office as a correctional officer. In 2013 Steve was promoted to Corporal. Steve graduated from the Lake Region Law Enforcement Academy in the summer of 2014. From 2011 to 2022 Steve served on the Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT) as an Operator, Assistant Commander and Team Commander. Steve was later promoted to Sergeant in 2016.
Steve served as the Team Sergeant of Team 4 from 2016 until 2022. Currently Steve serves as the Community Supervision Unit (CSU) Supervisor, 24/7 Drug and Alcohol Supervisor, and oversees the jail training. Steve is also on the recruitment
