(Detroit Lakes, MN) -- A Friday afternoon blaze in Lakes Country has been deemed accidental and unintentional according to the Detroit Lakes Fire Department.
Crews were dispatched to the Washington Square Mall on September 10th just before 3 p.m. Detroit Lakes Fire says the fire started outside an apartment unit above Mattson’s Barbershop and grew from there..adding that the dry conditions and vinyl siding of the building only exacerbated the fire. Two apartment units upstairs as well as two businesses on the bottom level were directly impacted by the flames, and those living or working in the four units will be displaced until further notice as the roof is not salvageable.
The neighboring apartments and businesses sustained smoke and water damage.
