11-30-19 Energy Matters Hour 1

On today's Energy Matters show, Scott is joined by:

Frank Macchiarola, Senior Vice President of Policy, Economics and Regulatory Affairs at API, who discusses US energy leadership and energy independence.

Mike Holmes, Vice President of research and development for the Lignite Energy Council, joins the show to talk about the three lignite research and development projects that were recently approved to receive state money, which will be leveraged with money from lignite industry participants. The state/industry R&D partnership has been going on since 1987. The state has invested more than $60 million in lignite research funds. Total investment in more than 200-plus projects is in excess of $700 million. Besides state dollars, R&D funding also comes from industry sources such as mines and utilities, research entities, such as the Energy & Environmental Research Center, and the Department of Energy. The state money comes from taxes paid by the industry through coal severance and coal conversion taxes.

Joel Brown, Partner & Reservoir Engineer at McKenzie Minerals, also joins Energy Matters. He talks about how to schedule a demo while families are in North Dakota over the holiday season. Also, did you know that mineral management services can be coupled with a MineralTracker subscription, allowing for the next level of service? And he answers a very important question...Why would I need a mineral appraisal?

Kenley Nebeker, Regional Director for Technical Programs and Training at TrainND, joins to talk about OBOW, give an update on some numbers, update on participating companies, and some stories from the classes.
