Outdoors Angle: Multiple Bow Stands Are A Priority

When I start setting up my portable bow stands in August, I always have a two-prong plan in mind for where I am locating them. The biggest factor is recognizing you have two phases in Fall bowhunting. One is early season with lots of leafy cover and the last portion of the season where the trees are bare and the leafy cover is gone. This means an early season stand could be totally worthless later in the season as you can easily be skylit in a bare stand.  Keep this in mind during early season because you hate having to change stands and make any disruptions in the woods when the rut is just starting. You want those stands pre-positioned for both early and late in the season and then you can change stand locations with very little disruption and the multiple stands also give you flexibility to pick stands according to the wind direction. The moral of the story is to have as many portable stands up and ready and the more options you have the better your chances of success. Too many bowhunters continue to go to the same stand week after week and this really hurts your chances. This is called "burning out your stand!"  By having different options the chances of any lasting human scent is minimal as long as you move around and keep the deer uneducated.

Yes, hanging multiple stands can be time consuming and downright tiring but in the end you'll have much better success and you will find the multiple options give you infinite flexibility no matter what Mother Nature is throwing at you!
