UND’s Sanderson And Gaber Are Hobey Baker Award Nominees

     University of North Dakota men’s hockey Sophomores Jake Sanderson and Riese Gaber have been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award.

     The award is presented annually to the top player in college hockey. Fan voting for the award runs through Sunday, March 6 at midnight. You can vote for the award by going to https://www.hobeybaker.com/vote.

     Gaber and Sanderson each lead the Fighting Hawks with 22 points this season. Gaber also has a team high nine goals.

     Sanderson may be the best defenseman in college hockey with six goals and 16 assists in 17 games played. Sandersons 16 assists ranked third for defensemen and leads all NCHC defensemen.

     Phase two of voting for the top 10 Hobey Baker Award finalists will begin March 17 and run through March 27.

 

Key Hobey Baker announcement dates for 2022 include:

  • Top Ten list of finalists:  March 16
  • Hobey Hat Trick of three finalists:  March 31
  • Hobey Baker Award announcement:  April 8

 

     The 2022 Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced on Friday, April 8, 2022 from a pool of the three Hobey Baker Hat Trick finalists during the NCAA Frozen Four Championship in Boston, MA.
