A Pair Of UND Fighting Hawks Have Earned Weekly NCHC Honors

UND sophomore forward Riese Gaber has been named the NCHC Forward of the Week for the second straight week. Gaber isn’t the only one earning honors this week as senior Zach Driscoll was named the NCHC Goaltender of the Week.

Gaber was excellent this past weekend against No. 18 Omaha, racking up five total points on UND’s six goals. He scored the Fighting Hawks first goal in both games increasing his team high goal total to 13 this season. With his two goals and three assists in the series, Gaber is now tied for fifth in the NCHC in goals scored.

This season Gaber leads UND with 13 goals, 18 assists, and 31 total points. His 31 total points ranks fourth in the NCHC and seventh in the country among underclassmen.

Driscoll was nearly perfect on Friday night saving 26 of the 27 shots he faced. In Saturday’s loss he saved 27 of the 30 shots on goal. Throughout the weekend Driscoll posted a .930 save percentage and a 1.97 goals against average. During 5-on-5 play over the two game series he allowed just one goal, including only giving up two goals when 5-on-5 in his past four appearances.

This season Driscoll has a 2.75 goals against average and a .894 save percentage.

This weekend UND will wrap up a six-game homestand with a pair of games against Colorado College at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
