UND’s Driscoll Has Been Named A Finalist For The Senior CLASS Award

On Monday afternoon UND senior goaltender Zach Driscoll was named a finalist for the 2021-22 Senior CLASS Award. He is one of 10 finalists for the award.

In order to be eligible for the award, a student-athlete has to be classified as an NCAA Division I senior or graduate student and have achievements in four excellence areas: community, classroom, character, and competition.

Driscoll is one of the top goalies in college hockey. He leads the NCHC in save percentage (.919) along with being second in goals against average (2.17) and wins (15) in conference play. His outstanding play helped the Fighting Hawks become the first team in the NCHC’s nine-year history to win three straight Penrose Cups as the regular season conference champions.

The Apple Valley, Minn., native also excelled in the classroom. He is a three-time WCHA All-Academic honoree along with being named the WCHA Student-Athlete of the Year while at Bemidji State. As a Beaver he also earned four straight AHCA Division I Krampade All-American Scholar honors.

The Senior CLASS Award acronym is Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School. The award centers on the total student-athlete and encourages them to use athletic platforms to make a positive impact as leaders in the community.

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced in April during the 2022 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four.

Last season, UND’s captain Jordan Kawagucci became the program's first winner of the award.
