(New York, NY) -- The Major League players union is taking the first step to bring in minor leaguers.
On Sunday night, the Major League Baseball Players Association sent out authorization cards that will allow more than five-thousand minor league players to vote for an election that could make them union members.
It's the latest step in a years-long effort by players who won a 185-million settlement from MLB in an unpaid wages class-action lawsuit.
Teams also have started providing minor league players with housing in higher pay in recent years.
