For the first time in almost four years, a Dragon has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Minnesota State University Moorhead freshman defensive specialist/libero Macie Wieman has earned the NSIC Volleyball Player of the Week honors. This is Wieman’s first honor of her collegiate career.

The Sparta, Wis., native averaged a league-best 5.13 digs per set in MSUM’s home wins against both Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State this past weekend.

Wieman tallied 19 digs in their four-set victory over Minnesota Crookston on Friday. She also racked up 17 digs on Saturday’s sweep of Bemidji State. In her last four matches, Wieman has recorded 74 digs and averaged 5.7 digs per set.

She is the first Dragon to earn the NSIC Volleyball Player of the Week honors since Monica Vega earned the same honor on Sept. 24, 2018.
