The North Dakota State volleyball team has been selected to participate in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC).
The Bison finished the 2022 regular season with 20-plus wins for the fifth time in the Division I era with a 21-11 (13-5 Summit) overall record. NDSU advanced to the Summit League Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2018, but fell to Omaha 3-1.
The Bison are one of three Summit League teams selected to the NIVC Tournament, joining Omaha and South Dakota State.
NDSU will square off with Davidson on Friday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. CT in the NIVC first round hosted by Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C. Additionally, Wake Forest and Coppin State will play on Friday at 5 p.m. CT. The winner of each matchup will advance to play in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m.
NIVC Tournament Overview
The NIVC is an annual postseason tournament involving 32 to 40 of the nation’s top women’s Division I Volleyball teams. Every round, including the championship match, will be hosted by participating schools.
Format
There are eight teams that will host Rounds 1 and 2 in 4 to 5 team pods. The tournament includes 32 automatic bids, one to each established conference. The NIVC bracket is announced on the same evening following the NCAA Tournament selections.

Semifinals – Dec. 8, 9, 10, or 11
