North Dakota State senior outside hitter Syra Tanchin has earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) North All-Region Honorable mention honors, as announced by the organization.

Tanchin was outstanding this season racking up a career-high 447 kills, ranking third in the Summit League. She reached double-digit kills in 25 matches, while also averaging a career-best 3.55 kills per set. She added a career-high 300 digs, 48.0 blocks, and 31 service aces on the season.

The St. Michael, Minn., native earned All-Summit League First Team honors for the first time in her collegiate career this season. Tanchin finished her Bison career with 1,209 kills, ranking 18th all-time in NDSU history. In the Division I era, she’s only the ninth Bison to surpass the 1,000 kill mark.

NDSU finished the 2022 season with a 21-12 overall record, including advancing to the Summit League Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2018. This season marked the fifth time in the Division I era that the Bison surpassed 20 wins in a single season, and the first time the program accomplished the feat under head coach Jennifer Lopez. NDSU ended its season last week in the opening round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC), falling to Davidson in five sets.
