Days after bringing the holiday cheer for Vikings fans on Christmas Eve, Kicker Greg Joseph has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Joseph propelled Minnesota to a 27-24 Week 16 victory over the New York Giants in walk-off fashion… The game-winning field goal was also a franchise record 61 yards for the third year kicker. On the afternoon of Dec. 24 he was perfect connecting on all five kicks he attempted, three extra points and two field goals of 40 and 61 yards.

On the season Joseph has made 22 of 27 field goals and is perfect from 49 yards and under. As for extra points he’s knocked down 36 of 41.

This is the second time this season Joseph has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. He also earned the honor in Week 4 against New Orleans in London. Against the Saints, he made five field goals in a 28-25 Vikings victory.

Joseph and the Vikings will now head to Green Bay on Sunday, Jan. 1 to square off with the Packers. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 p.m.
