NDSU’s Caliendo Has Been Named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week

     Following a week in which he defeated a former national champion, North Dakota State’s Michael Caliendo found himself being honored as the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week. He won a pair of tough duals in the week to earn the award.

     Caliendo began the week with a 6-3 victory on Thursday over #2 Shane Griffith, a 2021 NCAA national champion. Then, on Saturday, he defeated California Baptist’s Frank Almaguer 10-4.

     He is the second Bison to win the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honors, joining Jared Franek. Caliendo is also the seventh Bison overall to earn a Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honor.

     North Dakota State will return home for a pair of weekend duals on Saturday against Wyoming and Sunday versus Utah Valley.
