University of North Dakota freshman forward Jackson Blake has been named the NCHC Rookie of the Month for January, the league office announced on Wednesday morning. This is Blake’s first monthly honor of his young collegiate career.

Blake tallied at least one point in five out of eight games throughout this month that saw the Fighting Hawks go 5-3-0. He racked up three goals and six assists for nine total points. His nine points was tied for the NCHC lead in the month of January.

Throughout the month he took 17 shots on goals, with six blocked shots. Two of his goals were scored on the power play.

So far this season, Blake has totaled a team-high 30 points on 12 goals (10th in the NCHC) and 18 assists (6th in the NCHC). He ranks second among NCHC freshmen and sixth among all NCHC skaters in total points. Blake is also the first Fighting Hawk rookie to record 30 points in a season since Tyson Jost did so in 2016-17.

North Dakota has a bye this weekend and will return to the ice for a weekend series from Feb. 10-11 at NCHC rival Denver.
