Minnesota State University Moorhead senior guard Lorenzo McGhee is ending the regular season on a high note. McGhee was named the NSIC North Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. This is the first time this season a Dragon has earned the honor.

McGhee began the week scoring his 1,000th career point, in a 57-55 victory over Minot State. He scored 21 points in the milestone game, including hitting the game-winning shot with 11 seconds remaining.

Saturday was Senior Day and McGhee put on a show once again, dropping 19 points, with five rebounds, four assists, and two steals in an 86-76 victory over the University of Mary. The victory secured the number two seed for the Dragons heading into the NSIC Tournament.

In the two victories last week, McGhee averaged 20 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game while also shooting 51.7 percent from the floor.

MSUM earned a first round bye in the NSIC Tournament and will play in the quarterfinals on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. The Dragons will battle the winner of Sioux Falls versus St. Clouds State in the quarterfinals matchup.
