On Wednesday afternoon the Minnesota Twins were looking to sweep the New York Yankees, but that didn’t go as planned. The Yankees rolled Minnesota 12-6.
Kenta Maeda struggled giving up 19 runs in three innings of work. Maeda would leave the game with muscle discomfort and soreness in his right arm. What does this mean? Is it precautionary, or should we be concerned with Maeda being about 20 months removed from Tommy John surgery? We don’t have any answer at the moment, we just have to hope it’s not as bad as some of us may have initially feared.
The Yankees began the scoring in the second inning. First Willie Calhoun drove in a run on an infield single. Then Anthony Volpe hit an RBI single. Aaron Judge would then clear the bases on a double, giving New York a 5-0 lead. Minnesota would get one run back on a 367 foot Jose Miranda home run.

Volpe would hit a two run double in the fourth inning, followed by an Anthony Rizzo two RBI double. Gleyber Torres ended the Yankees’ fourth inning scoring with a two run homer, extending the lead to 11-1. Once again Jose Miranda would hit a home run for Minnesota, this time a two run homer cutting the deficit to 11-3.

In the sixth inning Joey Gallo hit a 380 foot two run homer of his own making the score 11-5. Max Kepler grounded into an RBI fielder’s choice in the seventh inning, 11-6. D.J. LeMahieu hit a sacrifice fly for the Yankees in the eighth inning, getting us to the score of 12-6.
