Twins fall to White Sox in 10 innings

On Tuesday evening the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox began their three game midweek series. The White Sox would eventually win 3-2 in 10 innings.

Minnesota’s Joe Ryan was outstanding, tossing six shutout innings with seven strikeouts. He only gave up one hit and walked two batters in a no-decision.

The scoring began in the top of the sixth inning on a Trevor Larnach RBI sacrifice fly, 1-0 Minnesota. In the bottom of the seventh inning Chicago would counter with a 375 foot two-run home run by Eloy Jimenez, giving the White Sox a 2-1 lead. Nick Gordon hit a 414 solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to tie the game at 2-2. Then in the bottom of the 10th inning Andrew Benintendi walked-off the Twins on an RBI single. Chicago wins 3-2.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli and starting pitcher Joe Ryan each met with the media after the game:

Game two of the series will be on Wednesday evening with first pitch slated for 6:10 p.m. Louie Varland is scheduled to get the nod for the Twins.
