Wild extending Middleton, adding former Avalanche/Predators forward Trenin

Minnesota came to terms on a four-year contract extension worth $17.4 million with defenseman Jake Middleton, per league sources. Middleton is heading into the final year of his current three-year deal, keeping him in a Wild sweater through the 2028-29 season. In 80 games this past season he totaled 25 points on seven goals and 18 assists, while also averaging 19:48 time on the ice per game.

Additionally, they added Left Wing/Center Yakov Trenin on a four-year deal worth $14 million In 76 games this past season he scored 12 goals and racked up five assists for 17 total points while also accumulating a +15 in the plus/minus rating. Trenin is a defensive winger that will be relied on to make an impact on Minnesota’s penalty kill.
