(Morton County, ND) -- A trooper involved in a shooting is being identified.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says Steven Mayer has been on administrative leave since the September 7th incident. Mayer was assisting in a chase near Hebron that involved a reckless driver. Craig Knutson led officers on a chase before he hit a spike strip, and didn't follow Mayer's commands even though Knutson had a gun.
Mayer fired a shot, and the incident remains under investigation.
