Unemployment Claims in North Dakota are Lower Than Pre-COVID Levels

(Bismarck, ND) -- North Dakota is having a successful recovery from new unemployment claims, with last week’s claims lower than in the same week in 2019, according to WalletHub’s updated rankings for the States Whose Unemployment Claims Are Recovering the Quickest. 

Key Stats for the state include:

  • Weekly unemployment claims in North Dakota decreased by 52.59% compared to the same week in 2019. This was the biggest decrease in the U.S.
  • Weekly unemployment claims in North Dakota decreased by 69.38% compared to the start of 2020. This was the 3rd biggest decrease in the U.S.​​​​​​​
  • Weekly unemployment claims in North Dakota decreased by 64.44% compared to the same week last year. This was the 24th biggest decrease in the U.S.​​​​​​​

Overall, North Dakota comes in as the 17th most recovered state since the beginning of the Pandemic. First spot goes to Florida, while the least recovered goes to Rhode Island.
